　Tomioka-jo Castle was built by the amount of Terasawa Morihiro Shima of Hizen Karatsu feudal clan which became feudal lord of Amakusa in 1601 (Keicho 6) from around 1602 (Keicho 7). We placed feudal clan charges in Tomioka-jo Castle, and Terasawa governed Amakusa, but received attack by Shimabara, Amakusa riot from the riot forces in 1637 (Kanei 14).
　After this revolt, it became territory of sansakiko*shukachi, and there was form of Tomioka-jo Castle who Yamazaki performed large-scale repairing and expansion, and was seen at the present.
　Amakusa becomes Imperial demesne after Yamazaki, and it is done hajo in 1670 (Kanbun 10) of kodenigashuchu*jidai, and, after the times of Suzuki chief administrator, it is again in Imperial demesne.
　In the Imperial demesne times, chief administrator place was placed in outermost outworks and played a key role of administration of Amakusa.
　"Tomioka, Kumamoto visitor center" is maintained to main enclosure trace of Tomioka-jo Castle and is completed now in April, 2005. Furthermore, we maintain oar (tower), the Korai gate, and Tomioka-jo Castle at the time is reviving.
　In visitor center, we introduce contents of Unzen-Amakusa National Park and send information about attractive natural scenery, history of Amakusa area, culture environment.
