History and Christian culture of Amakusa

We register as world heritage in July, 2018

As for the Amakusa that we lived in July, 2018, "Sakitsu village of Amakusa" was registered with world heritage for constitution assets of "hiding Christian-related inheritance of Nagasaki and Amakusa district".

As for this inheritance, it was traditional proof to be concerned with traditional religion and general public of Japan and faith continuation of hiding Christian who continued believing while living together while Christianity by the Edo Shogunate was forbidden after Shimabara, Amakusa riot from 1637 through 1638, and was admitted as fishing village village which brought up faith while, above all, Buddhism, Shinto, Christianity coexisted.

Thought that we put for Amakusa 30,000 tree project

In last winter, we planted symbol tree of one which became symbol of "happiness of Amakusa" in commemoration of world's cultural heritage registration at one corner of the Sakitsu churches.

To person coming again, ring of happiness spreads all over the island, and what should person living in Amakusa do to have you sense the shining Amakusa bodily?

We started this project from wish, "we wanted to do Amakusa in island filled with happiness!".

"Amakusa happiness tree" which decorates while praying for future happiness again while thanking happily present in families.

Well, let's display "Amakusa happiness tree" each in home and school and the workplace! While praying for happiness heartily together…….

We do not finish conveying "island where everybody can live in happily"

"Happiness of Amakusa" that we have in our hand routinely.

Island, Amakusa of happiness that is blessed with fresh, abundant food and rich nature, warm climates.

We who live in now convey "island where everybody can live in happily" from children to the elderly, and we must have the future of Amakusa.

To that end, we think that we cannot stop flow of current low birthrate and aging and population decline if each us does not begin to move.

All people gathering in Amakusa can do it.
That has thought of thanks in "happiness of Amakusa", and share thought of the thanks as "happiness of all" to the world.

We display Christmas tree with thought together together even once a year and want to start with praying for "happiness of Amakusa" and "happiness of all". We believe that we loaded scene which Christmas tree is displayed everywhere of Amakusa and the scene with, thinking surely reaches the world across among Japan and the language barrier.

Is it not that it is possible simply because it is Amakusa knowing pains and hot thought simply because it is Amakusa which crosses that we pray each domestic edge of the eaves and garden of Amakusa for "happiness of all" as for by one by decorating about 30,000 Christmas trees for a long time of 460 years, and continued celebrating Christmas?
